PROJECTS:
During my time at Oberlin, I focused primarily on setting up their recruiting database from scratch. Towards the end of my time, I had spoke briefly with my mentor about setting up a 7 on 7 camp for local schools to join. Because I ran out of time in that regard, I will show you what would of been done if I had fully finished.
But first I will talk about the Database as a whole.
But first I will talk about the Database as a whole.
Recruiting Database: Master Recruiting 2016
So pictured above is the format of Oberlin's database. It is a Google Docs spreadsheet that allows all users within the coaching staff to simultaneously edit or insert information regarding a prospect. My job was to put in those prospects from all 50 states. As you can see above, I had to focus on Position, Name, State, High School, Cell Phone, Email and GPA. Those were the primary things I needed to have on all prospects in the database. Most of the time the data was easily accessible and the was simple to plug in. Other times it was much harder to find information and took some digging. I had to do this with each state and on average there was about 700 prospects within each state. Of course, California, Florida and Texas included the most by reaching over 1,000 prospective student athletes. All in all, I believe I put in over 20,000 kids in that database. I can also say with confidence that I am learning area codes and notable high schools within each state. So this is what took up most of my time at Oberlin. It may seem like grunt work, but as I have said countless times before, it is something that interests me and I want to do in the future.
7 on 7 Camp; Big Man Skills Camp:
Pictured above is something that I was in process of doing before my time at Oberlin came to an end. My mentor and I talked back and forth about me taking on this task but I simply ran out of time before I saw the completion of my goal. Pictured above are the information and registration regarding the 7 on 7 camp, as well as the Big Man camp. I had some say when it came to this, but the mock copies were already made. I was more in charge of contacting the coaches and trying to get them to sign up and commit to commit to the Passing camp and Big Man camp. There are several local high schools around Oberlin College and Lorain County that I was beginning to talk to about coming to Oberlin but as I stated before my time ran out and my mentor took over the role. I have been to one of these camps last year and I can say that Oberlin does a tremendous job of running them and the turnout is always great. I don't doubt that it will be the same this year. So this is a project that I had worked on but never saw to its completion. I was able to find these documents on Oberlin's athletic website, which is accessible on my HomePage.
